6 songs to listen to when feeling gloomy

What is music? It is like any other sound. But have you ever thought about how music has always been so differentiable than noise to the brain? Music and songs trigger the good hormones dopamine and serotonin in the human body to distract away from the negative thoughts of the mind and helps boost one’s overall gloomy mood so that one can move forward with the day a little less-sadly.

Sometimes there is a lot of pent-up frustration from the day and you come literally across the edge, music could be the best escape for your gloomy day. The melodies and tones and tunes not only improve your mood status and reduces stress, but also calms your racing thoughts, enhance your communication skills health and performance.

There are times when one cannot just go on with their gloominess and calm music could be your rescue through the mood. It will not only lift up your spirit but also help you drift off to sleep.

Here are my TOP 6 songs that have helped me get through my anxiety and they will surely help soothe your mind as well!

MYSTERY OF LOVE BY SUFJAN STEVENS
If you have watched the painful movie Call Me By Your Name, then you have already heard of this song. This beautiful song portrays how painful it is to be loved but not in the way you want to be. Sufjan normally writes his songs about his family members or his childhood memories. The lyrics are about how his niece brought illumination to his life and brought him back from depression. The music will definitely help lift up not only your mood but also help you feel hopeful.

THE NIGHT WE MET BY LORD HURON
This infamous song from “13 Reasons Why” is a masterpiece of Lord Huron’s mind. There is something magical about this song that the moment you listen to it, you will completely utterly fall in love with it. Different people have different interpretations of the song, but all of them cover the haunting impact of depression on two people in love. This song is about hardships and heartbreak and will definitely soothe your soul.

LET HER GO BY PASSENGER
This song is far the best one to make yourself comfortable with the fact that you realize the real importance of something only when it is gone forever. You definitely need this song on your playlist to get through the hardships of your lows.

OCEAN EYES BY BILLIE EILISH
Billie Eilish always brings something that stays with her fans. And it all began with her debut song Ocean Eyes. First posted on SoundCloud, with a free download link, she made this song for her dance teacher. This song is about how Billie has compared her lover to the ocean. The ocean can be deep and mesmerising but scary at the same time. With an angelic tune, this song definitely needs to be on your feel-good playlist.

HIGH HOPES BY KODALINE
This song doesn’t make it to my TOP 10 because it has beautiful lyrics, but because this song makes me remember all the good and bad times of my life and still manage to add tranquillity and relaxation to my mind and body. This song will help you realize that no matter how the memories keep flooding into your mind, you will be fine someday.

TAKE ME TO CHURCH BY HOZIER
The song is a composition of Hozier’s frustration with the Catholic Church and is basically about homophobia. With beautiful music, while listening to this song, you will definitely realise that you are not the only frustrated one and you are not alone. And this brings hope to the hopeless living. It helped me, and it surely will help you as well.
