It’s time to stand by our nation. Here’s who said what on banning Pakistani artists after the URI attack!

After the recent Uri attack where India lost 19 brave hearts, there have been tensed situations all around the country. People from different fields have not only expressed their sorrow over the deaths of the martyrs but also came forward to stand together for their country and against terrorism. The attack happened 18th September 2016 and was one of the deadliest attacks on the Indian army in the past 2 decades. Post the Uri attack, India in UN also referred Pakistan as a ‘terrorist state’ and said that terrorism prevails on the soils of Pakistan.

Many came in support for the Indian army and said that it’s high time India should take a strict action against Pakistan and the consciously happening terrorist activities. After the ministers including the Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Uri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a meeting to review the Indus water treaty between India and Pakistan as many thought this would make Pakistan bend down on its knees. PM Modi after the meeting said, “Blood and Water cannot flow together”.

protest terrorist State

Soon, when the MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) threatened the Pakistani actors and other artists to leave India before they throw them out, many Bollywood actors, directors and journalists along with the public came forward to speak their take on this.  In case you missed out on who said what, let me tell you who said what when asked about banning the Pakistani actors and artists.

Karan Johar, Director: “I understand the anger and the anguish that surround us and I empathize, my heart bleeds for the lost lives. There is nothing that can justify this terrible feeling of terror. Then you are faced in a situation such as this (asking for ban on Pak artistes). If this was truly a solution, one would take it. But this is not a solution. I don’t believe it is. The larger forces have to come together and sort the situation and this cannot be banning talent or art.”

Varun Dhawan, Actor:” I will follow what the government of India says. Jo bhi Bharat sarkar kahegi woh sar aankhon par. It is horrible that our soldiers have been attacked (by Pakistan) and my heart goes to those (who suffered). If the step of banning actors can stop terrorism then they 9the Government) should do it but they should know the next step as well,”

Mahira Khan, Pakistani Actor: “As a Pakistani and citizen of the world I strongly condemn any act of terror, any loss of human life no matter which soil it is on. I will not rejoice in bloodshed and war. I will always hope for and dream of a world where my child can live without it, and always plead with everyone to imagine a peaceful world. It has also been in this time my faith in saner minds and goodness has been restored, thank you for the messages, love and support,”

Barkha Dutt, Journalist: “It’s NOT Courage to pick on Pakistani Actors & Artistes- it’s COWARDICE. like a bully who picks on soft targets instead of the real chaps.”

Raajdeep Sirdesai, Journalist: “We start by promising to take on PAK army, end by taking on PAK tv actors/ artists! What broad chests! #MNS”

Ajay Devgn, Actor: “This is not a political issue, it’s a national issue and terrorism affects everyone, like it did in Peshawar. Our security forces personnel are getting killed by terrorists at the border. Imagine how they would feel if we say we’ll still carry on with our cultural exchange. It’s not fair to them and their families. This is time to stand by the country. There is an exchange of bullets happening and you are talking about exchange of culture? We cannot isolate ourselves from the nation. I stand by our jawans. This is not only their war.”
