India reaches its highest Covid-19 recovery rate so far

The highest ever number of recovered patients have been recorded in the past 24 hours in the country. The Health Ministry informed that on Wednesday over 28,472 Covid-19 patients recovered and were sent back home. With this, the Covid-19 recovery rate in India touches its highest so far.

Overall, more than 7.5 lakh people have recovered from the disease. The data as released by the health ministry suggests that India currently has reached a recovery rate of over 63%, which is the highest ever. More than 19 states and Union Territories in the country have registered a Covid-19 recovery rate that is higher than 63.13%, while the positivity rate is nearly 10.99%.

However, the government data clearly shows that India has registered more than 37,724 new Covid-19 cases and nearly 650 patients lost their lives in the last 24 hours. The total number of coronavirus cases in the country have reached 11,92,915.

Talking about the states that are worst hit by the pandemic, Maharashtra remains to be at the top. The state has a mortality rate of 3.8 per cent currently which is higher than the national average mortality rate of nearly 2.5 per cent.

Coronavirus vaccines around the world are in different trial stages and it is being suggested that by the end of the year there might be a vaccine for the virus. In India, the human trials have begun on Monday of the coronavirus vaccine called COVAXIN, as informed by Dr Randeep Guleria, AIIMS-Delhi Director. Dr Guleria also informed that after the human trial, it would at least take three months for the medical teams and researchers involved, to reach any conclusion or issue the first set of data.

The increasing Coid-19 recovery rate in the country can be looked upon as a positive sign but on the other hand, the number of deaths and increasing count of new coronavirus patients in the country is still horrifying.
